I just got off the phone a short while ago with a fella’ who was calling from Kansas City (yep, KC) just to ask about our Traeger Com-200.  Seems he’s thinkin’ of getting one and couldn’t find any locals who have discovered the virtues of Traegers, he saw on our site that we use one and took a chance.  Good thing he did…we spent a while on the phone talking about my love of Traegers and our experience with the “Big Boy” (Com-200) to date.  I hope that he felt that his time chatting was well spent…he did say that it helped, but more importantly it brings to mind a point about BBQ.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…there’s a LOT more to BBQ than just the food!  Great “Q” belongs to a very small group of foods that are more than simply calories, fat & fiber…they are iconic.  Folks have built lifestyles around BBQ for centuries and with all of the attention that it’s been getting on Food TV these days, it’s only getting bigger.  BBQ is about the folks who make it, the folks who enjoy it and the great times that are usually had while it’s being consumed.  I am always happy to talk to fellow caterers, pit masters and BBQ enthusiasts about my love of “Q” and my experiences to date.  Heck, I may not share EVERY secret, but catch me on a good day and I’ll tell most of what I know!

Calling all bloggers…

2 Minutes 2 Great Q…status report

OK, I know that I have been promising a pending release of our first in a series of 2 Minutes to GreatQ4U! videos and I can say this…it IS coming.  We’ve been busy planning our upcoming ‘busy season’ which is shaping up to be busier than ever before.  In addition, we have been actively working to plan and begin growing our own Organic gardens for the season.  This year’s planning has reached yet a new level of sophistication in order to insure that much of our summer produce and most of our herbs are grown in our very own soil.  We are also working to cultivate our relationships (excuse the pun) with suppliers of our GreenOptions menu to identify opportunities to add even more locally grown, sustainable products to our menu.

SO, as you can see the production delay is due to a laser sharp focus on keeping the smokers burning and enhancing our menu & service options for the 2009 BBQ Season!  Stay tuned to our FaceBook page for the debut of “Pulled Pork” in the near future and call soon if you’re looking to add some GreatQ to your Spring or Summer event in 2009!  We’d love to help make your event truly memorable!

A’h the wind!

If it’s not windy enough for you wherever you’re at, you’re more than welcome to hang out here for a while!  We’ve got trees dropping like, well, TREES..all over the place.  Fortunately no smokers burning over the last 48 hours, so we didn’t have to contend with that, but the pellets are being mixed and fixin’ to smoulder soon enough!  In addition to a busy weekend of feeding our fellow Q-thusiasts, we’ll be out chain-sawin’ away in the back 40! 

Lots of planning going on these days around here.  We’re planning on having a semi-secret Pig Pickin’ to kick off the new menu addition sometime in the not-too-distant future.  We’ll have it at an ‘undisclosed location’ that will be convenient for most.  It’ll be an ‘invite only’ thing, but we’ll be announcing how to qualify for a couple of spots here and on facebook closer to the time of the event.  We’d love to have some of our online community join us in appreciation for some GreatQ!

Still firming up plans to do Pork-In-The-Park in Salisbury this April, we’ll be there for sure…just want to make sure we’ve got the team all lined up before any ‘official’ announcements!  That’s it for now, happy Friday the 13th! – jak
