Great Gads What the Cold Weather Will Do to One’s Head!!!

Yes, what happens during the Holiday’s when one’s head begins to ramble off from whatever its current surroundings are is a somewhat magical thing!  It can dull pain, take you far away or prehaps…if your REALLY disturbed…it can make you think about BBQ!  YES…that’s right, even when a well deserved, carefully orchestrated Holiday off was perfectly executed…I wound up thinking about “Q”!

Specifically, I got to thinking about all this stuff we’re doing online, like the websites (GreatQ4U.com and How2Q.com) and our FaceBook Page, YouTube and all this other techno STUFF we’ve got going on!  Well, one thought lead to another and then another…next thing you know something about 2 minutes of video is all FaceBook allows and we can teach the principles of GreatQ in a 2 minute segment sprung the idea for GreatQ4U’s 2 Minutes 2 GreatQ! Video Series

Despite several early naysayers and their words of discouragement…I am taking the initiative to forge ahead with the project.  No Hollywood Chef’s, no Big Budget…heck, barely NO Budget, No Glitz or Glamor…but it will be GOOD and USEFUL information about how YOU can make Great “Q” at Home!  I am certain that in a 2 minute video, we can tackle one meat at a time and provide a bare bones (excuse the pun), info packed barage of video knowledge that is both entertaining and informative!

I think that perhaps the best part of this whole endeavor is that it gives our readers, customers and Fans a chance to got involved.  Tell us what you think about the videos or what you’d like us to do different and we’ll do our best to incorporate your input into future video segments.  Yep…this will be fun!  We’ve got the pre-production script for the first 2 Minutes 2 GreatQ! video already done…we’re starting with Pulled Pork as it is such a well established favorite!  Keep your eye’s peeled here for an inbedded copy of the first video sometime by the end of January!

The Ghost of (Recent) Christmas Past…

Perhaps it’s a bit early to begin reflecting on Christmas 2008…especially while so many folks are still enjoying their ‘holiday’ season. I’ll limit the lamenting and simply say that it was certainly a year to be thankful for and that made ours a truly Great Christmas! I know that I’ve penned it in nearly every post on the Blog, but I am truly appreciative of each and every customer who chooses to do it the GreatQ4U! way!

As our thoughts turn to the upcoming year and the many events that we’ve got on the books, along with those yet to come, I know that we, like many will be facing some difficult decisions. Costs are increasing all around us for everything from food to fuel and everywhere in between. Raising prices, decreasing portions, looking at every little detail to make sure that we’re saving wherever and whenever possible without sacrificing quality…all things one has to consider while at the helm of a ship in these troubled waters!

Good news for those who have booked next year’s events already…your safe…no price increases for you! For those of you still on the fence, you’ve got until New Year’s Day to lock in at 2008 prices…and then I am expecting a mid-January cost-of-everything price increase that we will accompany with larger portions where possible and offer alternatives when bigger portions just aren’t economically feasible. One thing is for sure, we won’t be sacrificing the quality of our “Q”…not now…not EVER!

In fact, we will be working throughout 2009 to find more local sources for everything we prepare. We’ll be carefully considering our own organic garden and its growing schedule to coincide with both current and new menu items. Our focus is and always has been on customer satisfaction for the absolute best “Q” in Central PA and beyond! We’ve got lots going on in 2009, including more competitions and the addition of Honest-to-Goodness Pig Roasts (Pickin’s) to our menu…so stay tuned!!!
